Good morning David.
Every day there are a number of stocks moving higher (sometimes lower) on
"rumors." Mostly unfounded and there's a huge profit potential. How does this
happen and are there consequences for market manipulation?

There are always lots of rumors swirling around. Sometimes they're posted on
message boards, but just as often sizable traders all over Wall Street pass
information around... innocently or otherwise.
There are few real consequences, as it can hard to track down the source.
