Open Question

question...outside of sentiment and momentum what factors are making the market
rise? is it crude or china or that the depression is off the table or what?
volume has been low and there are no massive mutual funds that i can see
gobbling up share and everyone seems to be giddy over breaking even on extremely
low balled beats by pullin the old aapl upod's! if things are so good now
shouldnt companies be raising target prices and raising estimates.where is the
growth.i cant see it!what am i missing?

Demand. Those who have no skin in the game are getting back in.

I'm not saying the other factors do not also contribute.

My take is that we had 5-6 months of end of the world, the ice age never to
invest again news. Now we're having a Greenshoot (Can't stand the term) Crocus,
mustard seed recovery. I think that will last for 5-6 months. That would put a
downside around August/September, figuring we bounced back in March. Just my
take on it.

Also, and it may be just me seeing something that is not there, while overall
volume may be light, volume seems to spike at the beginning and near the close
and all the big dips seem to be bought. Logic dictates that it can't be just us
little guys doing the buying.

People, you have to think in relative terms and not get stuck on what happened
yesterday. Stocks trade on future earnings, as I'm sure we all know. Right
now, stocks are not trading on q3/q4 earnings, they are trading on q1/q2 2010
earnings. Earnings for the next 6 months may be hit and miss, but the big beats
will happen the early part of 2010. I hope I don't sound condescending. I'm
just trying to change mindsets that will lose you money. Granted if the economy
doesn't start growing and continues to contract over the next 6-9 months then
your argument will be valid but for different reasons.

it is funds and side line money coming back in the market, kind of slower
now.also the bears here r too scared to do anything as its a massive panic to
the upside.there is a lot of money that still needs to come in and its hard to
fight the momentum so the shorts r just sitting back for now until we get most
of the panic money over

market is trading higher on technical indicators. ie: buyer sentiment is
bullish. who knows what the reason is, but it *is what it is* mike
