Open Question

Experts,

How do I calculate my gain/ loss if I do a lot of short term trades?

For example: AAPL

BOUGHT AAPL 11 $173.53
BOUGHT AAPL 12 $124.50

SOLD AAPL 20 $118.46
SOLD AAPL 5 $163.05
SOLD AAPL 10 $189.20
SOLD AAPL 3 $168.77

HOLD AAPL 20 $168.26

Thank you in advance for your assistance

You're cost basis = 147.94 & that's with out the commish.

11 x 173.53 plus 12 x 124.50 / 23 = cost basis. do the same with sell side. your
buy, sell, hold figures don't add up. mike

just calculate bu first in first out, 20 out take 11 at 173.53, then you need to
figure out how much each individual share was of the (12 at 124.50) times 9
equals amount you add to the 11 to come up with cost for 20 shares. then just
subtract your for the difference. or run out to walmart and buy premier Quicken
2008 and it does the calculations for you.
