Hey Guys and Divine Ms M...Are you noticing that China is having a bit of a
Inflation Problem? I have been thinking what do you think will happen to it's
stocks...and what should the play be...besides commodies...just thinking about
it. Thanks, Nymph

so what's wrong with staying with commodities? the chinese are getting straight
per the price negotiations for iron ore. it'll be going up in price by at least
65%. what it means i think, and feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, is that
all those dry bulk ships that seem to have fallen out of favor with wall st
mavens, will be working full time plus carrying iron ore and pellets, coal and
coke. ie the flood gates will open and the ore will pour out.
don't know about 1000 closings but it is safe to say that some of them simply
failed and some may have moved on because the government is getting more serious
about environmental regs.
reports of the death of the chinese economy have been exaggerated. there are
changes. they look to be making less steel next year. but i look at it this way.
if a 30' tall tidal wave is predicted and it is actually only 25' what's the
difference to me. even if reduced per goods the prc will be building a lot
including expansion on other fronts. [one may want to look at 'china cosco' for
dry bulk and container shipping.morgan stanley is buying by the millions
literally]
BNI shipping commodities to China? BNSF has 0 export coal, so what are they
exporting to China? Hence why you do not take advice from a writer like James
Altucher, they never do their homework. CP has the highest exposure to China's
commodities, not CN or BNI. Plus, it isn't like rails get a piece of the
commodity action. Higher inflation will increase prices not volumes. You should
really do your research before you give financial advice.
Hey TN..great to see Jim and James back..makes me so happy
Hi Nymph,
Read an article over the weekend in the WSJ that there are over 1000 factories
being shuttered in the Dongyong Province. Spelling is incorrect as my Mandarian
is poor. Located in the Pearl River Valley of China. Many are being shuttered
and the owners are moving production to Vietnam, Laos, and Bangladesh. Mostly
apparel and furniture mfgs.
Alongside the commodity plays are the guys who take the commodities to China,
hence Buffett buying a stock like BNI and Bill Gates buying CNI.
I simply dont like china as much as i once did. market is too hot. Still like
the commodity plays that sell into it. FCX, RIO, CLF
