I am 35 years old. I am married with two children, ages 1 and 2. After our first child was born I went to 2nd shift at my job so we would not have to have daycare. During the day I started watching the 24 hour news channels and eventually found CNBC. I became very interested in the stock market and thoroughly enjoyed Jim Cramer, I began using TIVO to catch his show. To get on with my story..my wife and I decided to buy stocks as an investment for our children's future. During our process and getting an online broker (Scottrade), we discovered the Roth IRA and expanded our retirement as well. We had previously just had 401ks (no self directed accounts). Now everyone in the family has an account! Being new to the market we currently enjoy investing primarily in large American companies. For the children we like dividends. We keep finding that if we would follow Jim's rules we'd make more money. Now that we have the new book, "Stay Mad for Life", I think we will do better. For us, the rules are easier to follow and laid out better than in his other books. Ofcourse, the new book is directed at retirement so that is probably why. Oh, we bought it on cd and we really like that format, it's like having Jim in the car. That's my story so far.
