Weyerhaeuser 's P/E is overstated because earnings are likely to be depressed in '09. Weyerhaeuser has valuable timber holdings in the Pacific Northwest that could be worth a good chunk of its market value.

A new Alzheimer’s drug called bapineuzumab worked in a substantial number of patients in an intermediate clinical trial, supporting a prior decision to start final Phase III tests. If successful in final-stage trials, the medicine could be the world's first drug to modify the course of Alzheimer's, the most common cause of dementia, rather than just relieving its symptoms. Some analysts have forecast eventual annual sales of $13 billion (6.6 billion pounds), which would make it the biggest drug ever. The drug comes from Elan (ELN) and Wyeth (WY).

Weyerhaeuser (WY) was downgraded from Buy to Hold at Deutsche. $65 price target. There is now less potential for moves that crystallize WY's value and drive the stock. Further problems include cyclical challenges, downsizing in corporate overhead and further write downs in real estate.

Weyerhaeuser (WY): "I think this is a terrific buy here. I'd pull the trigger on this one."
