Buy - Price 19.92 on Oct. 20
by Pritchard Capital Partners

We believe the stock's selloff over the past few months is giving insufficient credit to its growth potential. The shares [of this oilfield-services company] are down 15% from their June 11 peak of 23.44, and are flat over the past three months, versus returns of 23% to 47% for its five diversified peers during that time. Our 30 target implies an 11.9 times multiple on 2010 Ebitda. At 8.8 times on 2010 EV/Ebitda, WFT trades at a 29% discount to Schlumberger (SLB) and 17% discount to Halliburton (HAL). We believe the WFT discount will narrow, and the peers as a group will expand toward the 15 times historical average. Market cap: $14.5 billion.

If you're bullish energy I'd play the energy space with Weatherford (WFT), adds Pete Najarian.

Or look at Cameron (CAM) and Weatherford (WFT) as oil services plays. I think all those names are more attractive right now than the USO (USO). - Joe Terranova

Obvious examples abound everywhere: New York Times(NYT), Sara Lee(SLE), Las Vegas Sands (LVS), RF Micro Devices (RFMD) (among so many techs with so much debt), VeriSign(VRSN), Weatherford(WFT) (along with a lot of oil service companies with debt) and most of the restaurant chains, big and small.

But the correspondingly precipitous drop in the prices of oil (now in the 40s), coal and other commodities in the second half sent the fund plummeting by 23% in the third quarter (and further in the fourth) forcing Jordan to trim -- or, in some cases, dump -- holdings. He reduced his stakes in Peabody, Nucor, and construction-engineering firms Foster Wheeler (FWLT) and Jacobs Engineering (JEC), while selling his total positions in U.S. Steel and oil-equipment provider Weatherford (WFT).

Zachary Karabell added an energy name to the list in Weatherford (WFT). Huge in cash and recently flirting with the $10 level.

10. Weatherford (WFT): Oil has a bit of a bid now, and whenever it does, people have been using this as an oil proxy. Nothing here vs. a Schlumberger (SLB) or a Transocean (RIG) -- which, by the way, foretold Friday's oil collapse perfectly.

A. any forward growth guidance you get from
a company has to be taken with a grain
of salt. dubai was not news 2 days ago,
yesterday it clipped the s n p for 20
points. these are turbulent times and
all forward statements are a guess. 5
year ones are a joke. we've had a really
nice upternd for the last 8 months, that
may be coming to and end or at the very
least its probably gonna get choppy.
you're gonna have to be the judge of the
reliability of any future estimates and
any one stock can have multiple guesses
at theirs.
