Skyworks (SWKS), which Break Out Stocks has been behind up here, was supposed to blow up along with TriQuint (TQNT). It seemed like a risk-free short. It turns out to be the opposite. Skyworks totally delivered. The undercurrent of the last few suppliers' quarters was the Internet tsunami had lost its steam. Skyworks says that's not true. That could mean Apple (AAPL) is off to the races toward my $300 target.

Apple can carry stocks, particularly the tower stocks, but also component makers that have lagged off of TriQuint (TQNT), players like Skyworks (SKWS) (loved by Breakout Stocks) and American Tower (AMT).

Some other weak techs, SanDisk (SNDK), Seagate Technology (STX), TriQuint Semiconductor (TQNT) and Cypress Semiconductor (CY), might make sense to get started in.

Q: Any others?

A: Yes. Triquint Semiconductor [TQNT], based in Oregon, is one of three leading makers of the gallium-arsenide integrated circuits used in wireless-transmission applications. Its products are in demand for mostly high-performance smart applications on iPhones, military radar and telecommunications base-station transmissions. The stock has moved from $2 in March to around $8 a share in recent weeks.

I like the mobile Internet plays on the move, notably RF Micro (RFMD) and Triquint (TQNT), ADC Telecom (ADCT), Tellabs (TLAB), ON Semiconductor (ONNN) and Cypress (CY). They are all cheap on a multiyear-move basis. On the other hand, I don't know how people can buy Level 3 Communications (LVLT) given that balance sheet. That's not a mobile Internet play.
