Buy - Price 38.37 on Nov. 17
by MKM Partners

[The shares of this retailer, whose stores include T.J. Maxx and Marshalls], have risen more than 85% year-to-date, versus a 44% increase in the S&P Retail index and a 23% increase in the Standard & Poor's 500. The stock trades at 14.7 times our new 2009 EPS estimate and only 13.2 times our new 2010 EPS estimate...the stock's forward multiple has ranged from a low of 10 times in late '08 to a high of 17 times in late '06, and the median is close to 15 times. Our unchanged 45 target is 15.5 times our '10E-EPS estimate, in line with peers....We think the stock should trade at least in line with its historical valuation, given strong and sustainable sales and earnings trends, modestly more aggressive footage growth [starting in '10], and return on equity above 40%, among the best in retailing and Corporate America. We see potential for even stronger outperformance versus other retailers in an economic recovery. Market cap: $16.4 billion.

I’m watching TJMaxx (TJX), counsels Pete Najarian. The stock just hit a 52-week high and they just announced a massive buyback, he explains. Their same-store sales continue to impress. There’s no options action but when I look at their P/E and earnings potential it just seems to me they’re doing everything right.

According to Cramer, TJX Companies (TJX) is no longer in control of its destiny, and the stock's best days may be behind it. Even management on the company's conference call lowered guidance and warned of tougher times ahead, he said. The problem? Cramer said TJX benefits by buying distressed merchandise from other retailers. But with the retail sector stabilizing, there simply isn't enough merchandise for TJX to buy. Cramer said TJX also benefited last year from the demise of rival Linens N' Things, an event that's now well priced into TJX shares. Cramer called TJX's conference call one of the worse of the quarter, noting that management offered no hope for improvement in the latter half of the year.

Still another article said that TJ Maxx (TJX) profits were up and that it was a good stock to own. Cramer was aghast, noting that company management just lowered guidance. "Be skeptical," Cramer concluded.

And those that have any success at all, like Urban Outfitters (URBN), Ross Stores (ROST) and TJX (TJX) -- as opposed to the dollar stores -- are getting a higher multiple on their somewhat consistent earnings.

Why I Hate This Stock

By:Greg NTG1 Parker

Date:02 04 07

On a scale of 1 to 10: Earnings = 7, Value = 5, Dividend = 2. Not the best of breed retailer. Not awful, but no compelling reason to buy. The stock buyback is O.K. If it dips back to $20, you have my blessing.

A. people seem to have forgotten about
christmas here..historicly between the
end of sept and beginning of dec there
is always a pick up in hiring of jobs.
maybe not last due to the fact we were
in a huge panic and companys were
cutting jobs like crazy , so the small
christmas hiring did not help much. the
nubers will be better due to the
christmas hiring..u want to be long here
not short. then in jan u will see all
these people that were hired get laid
off.the nuber is going appear better
till year end then in the first friday
of feb u should see an increase in the
number, and thats going to shock these
idiots that don't get the hiring trend.
