On Wednesday's "Stop Trading!" segment, Cramer said there was an "all-at-once retail thing going on," which saw companies such as Tiffany and Williams Sonoma (WSM) rising at the same time as companies such as Dollar Tree (DLTR) and Family Dollar (FDO). "Tell me if you really need anything at Williams Sonoma," he said. "That can't be going up if people are in a recession."

Cramer said we're seeing what he calls a "gasoline rally" in stocks such as Darden (DRI), Coach (COH), Tiffany (TIF), Sears (SHLD), Lowe's (LOW) and Yum! Brands (YUM).

"This is all the same trade that we saw when gasoline broke from $4 down to $2 last year," he said. "It's happening again." Read more here.

I think that Buffett's actions should be scrutinized just like anyone else's. I have been turned on to this view by my good friend Doug Kass, who has been on this case for months now. In fact, I have talked to the editors and we are starting a "Buffett Watch" to see what is happening with Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) as it lurches from Johnson & Johnson and U.S. Bancorp to General Electric (GE) and Goldman Sachs (GS) and Tiffany(TIF) and Harley-Davidson(HOG).

He says it's going to get uglier before it gets better. The names with the most earnings risk are Men's Wearhouse [MW], Tiffany [TIF], Abercrombie & Fitch [ANF] and J. Crew [JCG].

While the U. S. economy is now officially in recession, making consumer-dependent companies "a big, scary area," Galluccio believes some specialty retailers and consumer-goods outfits with solid niche businesses or high-quality products are priced to buy and hold. That's why the portfolio manager has put hammered names like J. Crew Group (JCG), department store Saks (SKS), jeweler Tiffany (TIF) and Cheesecake Factory (CAKE) in his portfolio.

Sears (SHLD) has made it; lets buy bebe stores (BEBE) and Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) and most certainly Jones Apparel (JNY), VF Corp. (VFC), Tiffany (TIF) and Urban Outfitters (URBN).
