Thoratec is the market-share and technological leader of the heart-failure market, with the only U.S.-approved left-ventricular-assist device for the mechanical circulatory support of bridge-to-transplant and DT [destination-therapy, or permanent-therapy] patients. We expect THOR to receive a DT indication for its HeartMate II device in the next few months. [Our] Outperform rating is based on THOR's technology, clinical leadership and...growth opportunities. We [see] significant leverage from future revenue growth. Our 36 target is based on a combination of DCF analysis and EV/revenue multiple of 4.5 times our '10-E revenue of $435 million. Market cap: $1.7 billion.
