When the economy's in question, it's time to look at the sin stocks. This alcoholic beverage maker posts earnings on Thursday, which should be a solid catalyst for growth

"People just aren't drinking as much," Jim Cramer said on Wednesday's "Stop Trading!" segment in response to host Erin Burnett's interview with Constellation Brands' (STZ) CEO.

"Maybe this economy is so bad that ... alcohol got more expensive," Cramer said. As a result, people are cutting back on things that have gotten too expensive, and discount-store stocks such as Family Dollar Stores (FDO) are going up. ("Stop Trading!" 4-8-09)

At about 21, Constellation shares trade at 12.2 times projected 2009 profits -- compared with about 18.8 times for Brown Forman (BFB), 13.4 times for Diageo (DIA) and the 15.5 times average for distillers and vintners.
