"Sears Holdings (SHLD) intends to evaluate the "desirability" of proposing an acquisition of Restoration Hardware. Sears disclosed that it had proposed buying Restoration before the purveyor of high-end home furnishings agreed to be bought by a private-equity group. Sears says that it approached Restoration in June about a possible business combination, and in late October proposed purchasing the company for $4 a share. Sears is seeking to obtain certain nonpublic information from Restoration, and has indicated that it would enter into a confidentiality agreement to get such information. Sears Holdings has 5.3 million shares (13.67%)." |
