A surprise September rise in new-home sales, per the Census Bureau, was countered by a congressional report that forecasted some 2 million subprime mortgage foreclosures by the end of 2008. Among the losign mortgage stocks was Radian (RDN), which fell 23%.

The stock hit a 52-week low.

As subprime bombs blow up, they lose more money because they insured that junk that used to be rated AAA. Going bankrupt.

They are hosed as the mortgages they insure collapse and they are in bad shape. May go bankrupt.
