Ferreira notes that all three companies are attractive because "they don't have debt, they have significant cash [and] growing end markets, and they are trading at very cheap valuations." At time of purchase, Google was trading at 14 times forward earnings, RIM at 9 and Qualcomm at 11.

Or do they mean Cisco (CSCO) and Qualcomm (QCOM), which aren't cheap now but could be cheap if the things they are saying -- the bleak outlooks -- aren't true.

I also believe that Qualcomm (QCOM) will report a miserable quarter, give terrible guidance and then will act like Cisco does today. Down but not out.

Look at something like Qualcomm (QCOM). That stock was down more than a dollar earlier. I own it for the ActionAlerts PLUS portfolio and have been telling everyone that the earnings are questionable but it lets you in for a couple of points despite that, and it is worth getting ahead of the Nov. 6 call as the shorts get forced to cover.
