Legal settlements and strong 3G and 4G sales have combined to push QCOM 25% higher. Cramer thinks the trend will continue now that cell-phone sales are picking up.

I am amazed that people still don't get the explosion in business that wireless internet is giving us. Apple (AAPL) says it. Texas Instruments plays in it. Qualcomm (QCOM) is it.

Cramer said he also sees the swell of wireless Internet to spread to the component makers, companies like Cramer favorite Qualcomm (QCOM), a stock which Cramer owns for his charitable trust, Action Alerts PLUS, and the maker of components in smart phones and in Amazon.com's (AMZN) Kindle e-book reader.

As for Skyworks (SWKS), Cramer said it's "going to keep growing." Action Alerts PLUS name Qualcomm (QCOM) is the "guts of all the 3G and 4G," he said.

Strong EPS and industry leader

Canakaris will sell a stock if it hits a target price (about 120% of what he considers fair value) or when he detects a slowdown in earnings momentum. Any significant earnings disappointment triggers an immediate review. He also has a 5% cap on any stock's value relative to the portfolio. Qualcomm (QCOM) briefly breached the 5% cap earlier this year, so Canakaris sold some. He still finds the shares attractive, even though they've risen to 43, from 33.43 in February. His cost basis is at 38.95 and his 2009 earnings estimate is $2.05 a share.

I am a big believer that Qualcomm (QCOM) will have to preannounce its quarter, business is that strong.

However, we have a reminder of how much this market likes tech when you see a couple of upgrades in Apple (AAPL) -- the most talked-about upgrade in ages -- and the Qualcomm (QCOM) earnings boost by Barclays.

Qualcomm (QCOM) has been an endless quandary, given that it has more visibility than any other communications stock I know but has been held back by the Cisco drag.

Too fast, too soon. Look for a 7-10% pullback over the next quarter.
