Pepsi bottler The Pepsi Bottling Group Inc. on Thursday said it will buy back 25 million shares.

The move brings the total number of shares authorized for repurchase to 175 million since the company began buying back shares in 1999. Since then, Pepsi Bottling has repurchased 137 million shares.

The company had about 226 million shares outstanding as of Dec. 29, 2007, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Feb. 27.

The stock trades for 6.5x cash flow.

Goldman said it is downgrading Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG) to Sell from Neutral based on valuation and soft market share trends. See competitive pressure from Coke adding to current difficulties in U.S., with additional risk from commodity prices. Believe increased marketing spend may be required to improve performance. Target at $38.

Pepsi Bottling (PBG) was downgraded to Hold, Citigroup said. Investors should lock in recent gains, and swap into CCE. $45 price target.

Bernstein said it is downgrading Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG) to a Market Perform rating based on valuation. Maintained $40 target price.

Just a solid company with good fiancials that just reported a great quarter, trading at 15.6 times earnings andmy dcf model gave me $38, this was when it was trading at $30/share
