Chevron (CVX) and Ultra Pete (UPL) have turned up, and can the others be that far behind? I find these two stocks, one oil, one gas, have been good barometers of the group. But the action today in the stocks seems to suggest pause. That's what TopGun Rick Bensignor is saying, and he has been red hot. That's also what Occidental (OXY), the most sensitive of the plays, is saying to me.

I like Petrobras (PBR), Occidental Petroleum (OXY) and Suncor (SU), adds Steve Grasso. If oil goes higher those stocks should go higher, too.

Yet, this market has to have all three -- tech, oil and finance -- go up, and the most important of these remains oil! So we get smashed on Occidental (OXY), Transocean (RIG), Chevron (CVX) and Exxon Mobil (XOM). It's absurd!

Oil play delivers pain and higher oil prices for shorts everywhere. Yet they still bet against it, and I keep plowing over them.
