On "Mad Money" last week, Cramer told viewers that he'd sell Sun instead of waiting for the Oracle deal to play out.

Cramer wrote in his blog on Oct. 15 that after speaking to close to 500 investors, he'd realized that tech "is still relatively unloved." He said he'd been asking people if they owned Intel (INTC), Microsoft (MSFT), Cisco (CSCO) and Oracle but hadn't had any positive responses. He said he had spoke to people invested in Apple (AAPL), though they'd gotten in much lower.

Goldmacher is convinced Rimini and other third-party vendors are a long-term threat to Oracle and SAP. Rimini provides maintenance and support for Siebel, PeopleSoft and JD Edwards business software, all of which were acquired by Oracle in recent years. (Ravin once headed PeopleSoft maintenance support.) Rimini also provides the same for SAP enterprise-software products. Oracle is the more diversified company. It remains a database leader and has entered the server and storage business through its Sun Microsystems acquisition.

Buy - Price 22.86 on Sept. 15
by Jefferies & Co.
We believe a combination of new product releases coupled with gradually improving corporate information-technology spending and accretion from the anticipated Java acquisition makes ORCL an attractive investment....Our 26.50 target represents just over 15 times our FY11 EPS estimate of $1.72....This remains a discount to [the] coverage group for CY10 (19 times), and does not include any accretion from the anticipated Java acquisition. Key risks include the pace of IT-spend recovery and acquisition integration. Market cap: $115.3 billion.

"Oracle has increased 23% this year, outpacing the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 Index. The stock trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 20, which is equal to the market, but a discount to software peers. The shares offer a dividend yield less than 1%." Read more here.

Outperform - Price 22.11 on Aug. 24
by Pacific Crest

Oracle had been growing EPS by at least 20% per year in a normal economy -- but it will likely be difficult for any software stock to garner a multiple higher than 14 times until the environment stabilizes. Market...conditions could interfere with the realization of [our 24] price target, as could integration challenges, lost market share or increased competition. Oracle is a software-industry leader, and [its] acquisition strategy [has brought] greater specialization and verticalization. It has successfully diversified away from dependency on its database business with the success of its middleware and applications businesses. Based on its F2010 earnings power of $1.64, we see upside for ORCL to 24, based on a 14 times multiple. Market cap: $111.5 billion.
