Why I Love This Stock

By:barrons3

Date:10 15 09

Growth funds love semiconductor leadership. When they see the National Semiconductors (NSM) and the Texas Instruments (TXN) or the Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Microns (MU) and Teradynes (TER), as well as the twins of semi growth, Altera (ALTR) and Xilinx (XLNX), rolling up, they get excited to take a lot of stocks that are affiliated with the group.

Also the options action in National Semiconductor (NSM) suggests to me there could be a big catalyst infront of this stock, Najarian said.

On stocks of companies that have significantly lowered earnings guidance, buy defensive puts. This works for Texas Instruments (TXN), Ingersoll-Rand (IR), Eaton (ETN), International Paper (IP), National Semiconductor (NSM), Sandisk (SNDK), Illinois Tool Works (ITW), Massey Energy (MEE), Parker Hannifin (PH), Estée Lauder (EL), Time Warner (TWX), CSX (CSX) and Norfolk Southern (NSC).

Bulls need to see tech go up again, though, because you want the National Semis (NSM) -- bad -- to not be the takeaway, and you want the Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) upgrade to be "right."

But I believe Texas Instruments (TXN) and National Semiconductor (NSM) are vulnerable, as they were the two that started this whole run on bad news that I believe will run out of gas.

We know, for example, that the financials are going down because numbers are too high. I think that when the analysts feel that the run is over, they will come out and blast oil service numbers, and you can go right back and buy them then, a la National Semiconductor (NSM) and Texas Instruments (TXN).

A. You have a bank, a pharma, another
pharma, a tech, a fast food company, and
another tech. You have too much tech and
pharma. Should diversify, maybe oil,
consumer goods, industrial, etc.
