Also in this beaten-down group: Lear (LEA), which produces seat systems and electronic components in 36 countries. Even after a very sharp rally last week on a Buy recommendation by an automated statistical-analysis trading system, it closed Friday at $2.50. Whether the bears or the automated stockpicker have a better fix on the company's prospects might become clearer Thursday, when the company is scheduled to hold a conference call with analysts. |

Carl Icahn and his affiliates sold 8.5 million shares of Lear (LEA) stock at $1.90 a share, slashing his stake to 4.95% (3.38 million shares) from nearly 16%. In addition, Icahn's representative on Lear's board, Vincent Intrieri, resigned. In a letter, he said that his decision isn't due to any disagreement with the company. However, Intrieri expressed regret that the merger proposed by Icahn last year wasn't approved by Lear's shareholders. |

Three auto suppliers -- BWA, LEA and TRW -- were downgraded from Overweight to Neutral, JP Morgan said. Valuations have bounced back from trough levels, and these stocks lack further material upside potential. US volumes should remain soft and steel prices continue to rise. |
