US Airways reported October traffic down 3.6%, on a capacity decline of 5.7%...leading to an increase in unit revenue of 4% to 6%...[which] compared unfavorably to the company's low double-digit guidance. Load factor rose by 1.4 points, to 81.9%, from 80.5%. Forward bookings for the rest of November and December are in line with our expectations, with holiday traffic somewhat mixed. Northwest Airlines cut fares in some markets [recently] to stimulate holiday demand, so we expect bookings will pick up. For US Airways, we believe the loss in 4Q will be around $1.10 a share, versus our initial estimate of a loss of $3.07...the Street consensus estimate is a loss of $1.10...We'd use the pullback caused by the traffic results to establish positions. Our target, 23, is 10 times estimated '09 EPS of $2.30 (consensus: $2.14). Market cap:
