Target: 15. We forecast overall [assets under management] to end the quarter at $154 billion, up 16% on strong market gains and solid net inflows. In aggregate, we forecast $1.5 billion of net inflows in 3Q09, down modestly from $1.7 billion in the prior quarter, but a turnaround from the $5 billion of net redemptions a year ago. Unlike in prior cycles, JNS' fixed-income, value, and global/international portfolios are generating the highest organic growth rates, while demand for the firm's legacy growth funds appears more subdued. Less favorably, we suspect net flows at Intech remain negative, given ongoing underperformance across several strategies. Market cap: $2.3 billion.

JNS beat estimates for 2Q earnings in its preannouncement, posting 10 cents, versus...a 7-cent Street consensus. The beat came from a welcome improvement in [assets-under-management] yield, [due to] a higher mix of international AUM....While JNS could be in a state of flux until a permanent chief executive officer is announced, we [expect] improved morale...as prospects for asset managers...improve....JNS shares are trading at 22 times our '10E-EPS of 51 cents, slightly above the mid-point of their historical trading range on current-year forward estimates. We believe JNS is already discounting 2010 earnings. Market cap: $1.8 billion.

As for financials, Janus Capital(JNS), Franklin Resources(BEN) and T. Rowe Price (TROW) are all up. "It's very hard to call a rally still a bear market rally if you have money coming into these stocks," said Cramer.

JPMorgan said it is downgrading Janus (JNS) to Underweight from Neutral due to weakening fund performance and overexposure to international securities. Note rich relative valuation and see potential for selloff ahead of redemptions.

Janus Capital (JNS) was upgraded to Buy from Neutral, Goldman said. Note stock's underperformance year-to-date alongside improved performance in funds. Note highest average fund rank among peers, according to Morningstar. Price target at $32.

Janus Capital (JNS) was upgraded to Neutral rating from Sell at UBS. Price target lifts to $32 from $28 and 2008 eps estimates upped to $1.45 from $1.35.

Blum Capital Partners cut its position to 8.18 million shares (4.8%), from the 11.25 million (6.4%) reported on Oct. 18.
