From Barron's 8-6-07:

Buy - Price 18 on July 31
by Jesup & Lamont
"Target of 24 is based on sum-of-parts valuation...Founded in 1990 by MIT roboticists...IRBT designs, manufactures and markets robots to perform tasks [from] floor-cleaning [to] life-endangering missions like bomb retrieval....We expect a spate [of new products] in second-half '07. In 2008 time frame, on the military side of the business, we...look forward to increased diversification [via] new products and, eventually, profitability....We forecast IRBT's revenue will grow 27% to $240 million in 2007, and 23% to $295.2 million. We believe IRBT is a pure-play robotics company [with] unlimited end-market demand."

Speculative play. I like their exposure to consumer discretionary and their exposure to defense. With their new partnership with TASR to make robots for law enforcement it just continues to show that all things robotic go through them.

I love the Roomba products, but I personally experienced a lot of execution issues at Christmas, with errors in the customer service line delivering a new robot without changing out my battery. That is $250 versus $60 in retail pricing terms. I think this is a widespread issue even though I love the product. Unfortunately, I had been a shareholder for about a year, only giving it up after losing 33% on my position.

Bought after I saw on the news they were getting military contracts to use their robots for recon. Stock has come up some, but still disappointing.

What r u waiting for? This dog is about breakthru its ALL TIME LOW after gapping down on 4 x 20day avg vol. If it goes below 16.09 and test that price as a ceiling then short it as it craters! I can't be the only ready to stick a fork in it....
