Starwood Hotels (HOT) was downgraded to Market Perform, Wachovia said. Valuation call. US economy has slipped into a mild recession, and RevPAR numbers will likely fall across the industry.

Affiliates of Tribune Co. (TRB) reported ownership of 14,750,000 shares (7.72%), purchased from Oct. 2 to Jan. 31 at $39.63 to $62.37 apiece.

Starwood Hotels (HOT) was upgraded from Underweight to Market-weight Thomas Weisel said. August trends were strong, and the stock has pulled back. Credit concerns may actually help by slowing overall supply growth. $61 price target.
