Heely's just came public about 6 months ago at $21. Since then the stock has gotten hammered due to fears that the product isn't selling and retailers have backstock of the product. Everywhere I look, however, some 10 year old is flying through the mall on their wheeled sneakers. I think people will be buying again this holiday, and with pretty solid fundamentals to back it up, I think this is a good buy.

CIBC said it is downgrading Heelys (HLYS) to Sector Performer from Sector Outperformer. Drastic fall-off in demand possible in second half of '07. Retailers face an uncertain back-to-school season with left-over inventory. $32 price target removed.

Wachovia said it is downgrading HLYS to Market Perform from Outperform. Weak spring and summer secular trends have caused higher levels of inventory at retail that stores have to work through. See no catalyst for the stock.

Does this stock have a bottom? This has to be one of the most heavily shorted stock. I do not understand the short position, although they knock it down without any fight, there are simply no buyers. With the growth and their albeit brief but great earnings history with accelerated revenue growth I am in until they report. I have been adding to my position as it has freefalled lowering my basis. I am counting on a significant short squeeze to get out at break even or even a small loss. Worst case I am in big and will learn a lesson about betting against the tide of the Street.

One trick pony that went public way to late. I see kids at the mall daily fall on their butts and it won't be long before one of them breaks their neck. Here come the lawsuits. Plus footwear is already crowded and cuttthroat.
