Market Outperform - Price: $1.54 on July 15
by Rodman & Renshaw

Hollis-Eden Pharmaceuticals today announced the commencement of a Phase II clinical trial with Triolex in patients with Type 2 diabetes (T2D). The advancement of Triolex (formerly HE3286) into clinical evaluation in T2D comes, as expected, on the heels of positive interim results from the ongoing Phase I/II study with Triolex in obese adult subjects, which the company reported last month during the American Diabetes Association 2008 Scientific Sessions. The interim Phase I/II data showed that obese patients treated with oral Triolex for 28 days demonstrated significantly improved insulin sensitivity, and lower fasting plasma glucose, insulin and triglyceride levels, compared to placebo-treated patients. We believe that Triolex has the potential to be a safe, novel, first-in-class insulin sensitizer. We therefore reiterate our Market Outperform rating and year-end price target of $6...and continue to recommend HEPH as our top small-cap idea for long-term investors.
