Obama is hot and heavy on coal. FTEK makes the products to scrub the output from the coal burners/stacks to prevent pollution. Currently do not own, looking for a buying opportunity and to make sure Obama will continue in the direction that he earlier announced.

Market Perform - Price 9.51 on Dec. 9
by JMP Securities

Fuel-Tech [has agreed] to acquire Advanced Combustion Technology for about $22 million in cash plus performance-based payments. ACT designs, engineers, and installs combustion systems on utilities and large industrial boilers that burn coal, natural gas and fuel oils. This acquisition could add $22 million to $24 million in sales to our fiscal-year '09 estimate, and should allow for greater sales domestically and enable further penetration in ...China. Trading at about 14 times our FY09 [enterprise value]/Ebitda estimate, we believe Fuel-Tech's shares appropriately reflect longer-term growth prospects, and we would become more constructive on the stock as order flow increases. Market cap: $247 million.

Another so-called loser, FTEK is up just 9% over the last year. As a play on clean coal, FTEK is going to be in the sweet spot if a democrat wins in November, Cramer said. There’s a legislative catalyst too, as clean air regulations are set to commence next year that will force utilities to seek out pollution control technologies, which is FTEK’s bread and butter. The company is also gaining exposure in Asia and has seen a flurry of healthy insider buying. The stock had a huge run right after Cramer recommended it last April and then dropped sharply. But it is one of those stocks that swing wildly up and down, and Cramer thinks the next direction is up. Time to reload, he said.
