Target: 32. eBay has [recently] experienced some technical issues resulting in a search malfunction....Looking at the nature of the issues, surging merchants' listings is a good problem to have (largely responsible for the outages) and we don't think eBay has to invest heavily...to avoid or reduce system-unavailability instances....we reiterate our Buy rating and 32 target, derived by applying a multiple of 10.5 times to our 2010 estimated Ebitda of $3.44 billion (Ebitda per share of $2.59), adjusting for 2009 year-end net debt of $4.59 billion, or $3.52 a share, and 85 cents for eBay's stake in Skype....We're giving a higher multiple to eBay relative to our current estimate[d] long-term growth outlook; we believe that, with a sustainable rebound in its core business and PayPal being one of the fastest-growing...businesses online, the multiples will very likely expand. Market cap: $30 billion.

Another favorite is eBay (EBAY), the online-marketplace operator, which also sells online payment and communications services. Barron's profiled the company favorably in a cover story in the summer ("Make a Bid!" Aug. 3, 2009). It trades around 24, or about 15 times forward earnings. Miller has faith in the new management and sees the beginning of a turnaround. "It's more buyer-centric than seller-driven; it has a dominant position and no inventory risk," he says.

"On one side you have the big would-be buyers. On the other, there is a host of smaller players. The big fish are Amazon (AMZN), eBay (EBAY), Google (GOOG), Microsoft (MSFT) and Yahoo! (YHOO), according to Aggarwal." Read more from Scott Moritz here.

He sees similar opportunities closer to home, such as eBay (EBAY), Apple (AAPL) and Ontario-based Research in Motion (RIM) -- which appeal to him because they, too, are global.

It's funny -- two I own, VMware (VMW) and eBay (EBAY), both ran up ahead and then kept running. But that's because they were so beaten down and expectations were so low.

Then you have to try to figure out how real Ford (F) is -- seems very real -- and whether I am right on eBay (EBAY) (I own it for Action Alerts PLUS) and wrong on SanDisk (SNDK) (a guest columnist says I sure am).

down, down, down, needs better management

Domestic listings growth down to a crawl. Why the HELL do they not want to advertise. Falling behind on resolving customer complaints, and ebay takes the fall for bad deals rather than bad sellers/buyers.
Need speedier complaint resolutions.
