Equifax Inc., a provider of employment and income verification and human resources outsourcing services, said last week that its board of directors approved the repurchase of up to $250 million of common stock.

Another item to note: Funds controlled by ValueAct Capital Management LP recently reported increasing their stake in Equifax Inc. to 8.3 percent, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The private equity firm beneficially owns 10.9 million shares, or an 8.3 percent stake based on 131.8 million shares outstanding as of Sept. 30.

The stock trades for 9x cash flow.

ValueAct Capital Management increased its stake to 10.95 million shares (8.3%), from the 9.5 million (7.2%) it reported owning on Jan. 16.

ValueAct Capital Management reported ownership of 7,523,768 shares (5.3%) after buying 62,770 from Oct. 19 to 23 at $35.56 to $36.96 each.
