Q: The value of the stock has been cut in half this year. Is that simply because of the faltering economy?

A: Yes, the market is discounting that on just about every stock that is down 40% or more. So clearly, some of that has occurred. We felt that the stock was expensive when it was up in the low-to-mid-50s, and we had actually pared back our position. But we have seen the stock down enough, in the high 20s and low 30s, and that gave us a chance to buy more with it selling at 10 to 11 times earnings. That's unusually attractive for a company that for the past five years had grown its sales at about a 20% rate and earnings at a 16% rate. At a minimum, they ought to grow earnings and revenues [by] double-digits per annum in the next five years.

Should have sold at the last 55, then should have bought it back at 37. Waiting for the next time at 55 (maybe 57) to sell.

On the New York Stock Exchange for 78 years, Curtiss-Wright (CW) is the corporate descendant of the Wright Brothers and aircraft designer Glenn Curtiss. Tuesday, the Roseland, N.J.-based company announced it would lift its quarterly common dividend 33%, to eight cents a share from six cents. Disbursement is slated for Oct. 26 to investors of record Oct. 12. The stock goes ex-dividend Oct. 10. Payouts have been ongoing since 1974.

Curtiss-Wright (CW) was downgraded from Outperform to Sector Perform, CIBC said. Company trades at a premium to its peers, and only has 10% upside potential to its $50 price target.

The offered me a job 1 year ago and they will profit from the Aerospace and defense market.

Low P/E has more than doubled int he past year.
