Why I Love This Stock

By:barrons3

Date:10 29 09

Cramer envisions fleets and fleets of nat-gas-fueled vehicles and the filling stations necessary to keep their tanks full. Enter Clean Energy Fuels, which owns the largest chain of natural-gas filling stations. The stock is up 247% since Cramer’s Nov. 20, 2008, call. If Washington finally gets behind the commodity, who knows how much further it could go.

Either way, I see the group as vulnerable unless President Obama acknowledges what it can do for us, but all we hear about is batteries, something that is so far more unrealistic than natural gas that it is painful and a fantasy. In my interviews last week on "Mad Money" with Michael Linn of Linn Energy (LINE) and Andrew Littlefair of Clean Energy (CLNE), I got the impression something's around the corner.

From a recent Mad Money show:"Now that the Pickens' Plan fizzled, these stocks have nothing left. We're getting a rally from hedge fund selling; use it to scale out unless you're a speculator."

Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE)-- Well, perhaps the overall concept is good. Their contracts deal mainly in Los Angeles, CA (and other a few other areas).... They construct Natural Gas filling stations for local govnt use and some public use. They also supply the gas. The are expanding slowly and in time perhaps the stock will grow as alternative fuels grow. The performance is weak, no dividens, etc. Lost quite a bit for now.... average buy is around $10.00/share. Again, this is a "long term" stock....
