Sloan is also keen on U.K. confectioner Cadbury (CBY), seeing value in the company's decision to sell off its U.S. beverage business -- the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. He thinks the company can realize greater efficiencies with a more focused operation, pushing up margins from last year's 10% to a peer average of 14% to 19%. So far this is proving so with first-half 2008 margins up 210 basis points, or 2.1 percentage points. "Assuming this continues," Sloan says, "the firm should realize earnings growth in excess of 20% over the next three to five years." He sees 30% upside. |
