Those were really cool stats. I had also been wondering how many portfolio's had been
entered, and how many people are a part of Stockpickr now. The fact that over 38,000
portfolio's have been created is a testiment to your great idea and hard work, Mr.
Altucher. Great job with all this... What's funny is that I had always wanted something
like this, so... you know I'm pleased :-)

I had also been wondering about how you got the idea for Stockpickr, Mr. Altucher. That's
a pretty cool story.

It's such a great idea creator. 12,487 symbols... I mean, that pretty much runs the full
gamut.

Also, as someone mentioned above, it really fills the "financial discussion" void. I, too,
had been wanting something like this, where you could shoot ideas across other people.

In the end, the benefits of stockpickr are tremendous. I will enjoy watching it grow, and
seeing the new things that will come about from/with it.

Thanks for the stats James: I was wondering how many portfolios have been entered. The
latest portfolio listing is constantly changing so I figured it had to a lot. It makes the
"Feeling Lucky" tab fun too and I have encountered some really fascinating stockpickers
and unusual portfolios.

And thanks BBoop... I think "serious" is going to work out fine eventually...

Sophia: I really like that GE story. Your investment required spunk; I admire spunk.
Now, I, on the other hand, just a few days prior to this correction, ( may I call it
that?) decided to make a play that was out of character for me. My guardian angel said,
"Granny, you got to get serious." I thought she said "Sirius". LOL Well, here am I
............. contemplating whether the big dog is ahead of me or behind me.

I just recently stumbled onto this site... I find it to be a great outlet for all the
surplus trading energy that one can have during the day and after the market closes. I am
sure there are many others out there who just can't get enough of the markets. I like
having a place to review and float new ideas...

Thanks for starting the new thread...

I have to say, in general i've been impressed with the high quality on these forums. True,
there are a lot lurkers. But every day I see more and more new names on these forums and
the quality just keeps going up. Initially this started as a way for my partners and I to
keep track of various stock picks and holdings of the great investors. But since we've
opened it up its turned into a great community with more useful investing ideas than i
ever thought possible. Some stats: right now there's about 38,000 portfolios entered into
the system. Interestingly, there's 12,487 different symbols entered in. I don't even think
there's more than 8,000 different companies that have gone public, let alone 12,000. So
people are entering in foreign stocks, mutual funds, etc.

Of the 38,000 portfolios, about 10,000 have analysis. Its hard to find any newspaper or
media site with more than a dozen or so columnists. We have 10,000 here. True ,not all are
incredibly useful but I'm seeing the great voices rise to the top. I know many managers
who are starting to use this as their main resource, including Jim Cramer for his tv show.
This is real social networking and its been great to see.

Granny Boop- it's called experience! I have a lot of that, too. But it's true: ignorance
can be bliss. Back in Oct '87 I didn't know a thing about stocks so I just jumped in the
day after the crash and scooped up a bunch of GE. Ten years later, we were stunned at the
capital gains of our little $1000 investment... I'm much more hesitant now...

Sophia: You are so right. "smile" I wish I understood a whole lot more than I do, but
that would probably not be good for me. The way things are, I can still have a little fun
with the market. Most of what I have is just the ability to stay calm cause I'm too
darned old to get excited. Some of what's going on right now is like a rerun of a movie
I've seen a few times before. Just call me granny.

Hi tbbot... a lot of people sound knowledgeable but it can be easy to fake! :) But really
a lot of people are truly knowledgeable and very helpful too: don't be afraid to ask
anything...

Oh yes, i know you BettyB.... :) I'm just wondering about alll-l-l-l the other people who
view the forums ( some have hundreds of views) but don't speak up. It's fine, of course,
but I would like to encourage people to give their views or ask their questions, too, to
keep stockpickr alive and well.

To lurk or not to lurk.............I'm a newbie.......I find this site extrememly helpful.
This site is very informational. And, it seems that many of the individuals here are
much more knowledgeable than I am.

Once in a while I will write in a question.

Thanks.....
