One additional thought does come to mind . . . The theories of Obama that are being
implemented while ignoring the insight of Paul Volcker and Warren Buffet and Jim Rogers
and Marc Fabre and Bill Gross and Gerald Celente and John Paulson and Kyle Bass and John
Mauldin and David Rosenberg and Peter Morici and Peter Bernholz and Joeseph Stiglitz and
David Einhorn and Damon Vickers and Casey Mulligan . . . but, what the heck, these folks
seem to profit and/or enhance their reputation regardless of the circustances . . . even
by academians who may be currently in control politically but who do not have real world
hands on experience.

I would say it is a matter of reading the tea leaves as opposed to being a 'cute theory'.
And, though it is possible for me to be wrong about the observation, I don't think so.
America is on its own, even if it may currently be guided by socialist desires similar to
Sweden. America has more politicians influenced by special interests and who are blinded
by the past govt errors implemented during the Depression era. . . meaning, that if we are
in a recovery, it will be a jobless recovery with high unemployment that will dwindle only
as people officially drop off the unemployment roles due to length of unemployment, not
because they obtained a job. . . ALL THE WHILE the fed govt increases tax burdens at the
fed level AND the state level while not being friendly towards the engines of capitalism.
. . ie anti-capitalist

The US, imo, is entering a new financial and monetary era which, if we are lucky, will
only reflect one lost generation...but probably two...for none of the numbers are adding
up. The increasing US deficit which has an ever increasing percentage allocated to
interest (on outstanding deficit) while the deficit still is going in the wrong
direction...even before considering the national health care issue or the Cap & Trade
issue or a larger obligation of the US govt involved with home mortgages...much less
taking over the entire student loan industry.
Besides, the unemployment norm for Europe has usually been higher than that of the
US...which does not seem to be enviable from a more open market point of view...which is
where the US will likely be anyway due to the horrendous amount of fraud, waste & abuse as
well as additional incentives to not pay an increasing amount of tax liabilities being
called upon by city, state & federal entities.
Bottom line: We're going the wrong way.

robert -
a public health option does not equate to lower wages. its cute theory, but if thats the
case then why are wages in countries like the UK comparable to the US? shouldnt it be
substantially less? do these countries really have significantly lower standards of
living? doesnt Sweeden have one of the highest (if not highest) standards of living on the
planet?
does this argument make me an all out lover of single payer systems? no. its just real
world examples of how the arguments against it--in this country--are largely theory and
have no real world backing.
fear and theory. but not reality.

Basic law of economics -
Should the healthcare initiative go into law, the long term effect will be more employees
getting paid less since the employer (maintianing a certain level of employees) will be
mandated to provide health insurance. . . bringing about a lower standard of living for
more workers who could live longer. . . all at the control of 'the central state'. . .
Also meaning it will be harder to generate a nest egg which will afford one to consider
retirement. . . not even thinking about more fraud, waste and abuse . . . with a larger
incentive to skirt the various tax minefield . . . anyone going to call for a do over?

a quick chuckle........
August 11,1984 - United States President Ronald Reagan, during a voice check for a radio
broadcast remarks, "My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed
legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes".

this is interesting....
August 12, 1982 – Mexico announces it is unable to pay its large foreign debt,
triggering a debt crisis that quickly spread throughout Latin America.
and 27 yrs later they are still getting free money from us and got lots of jobs from
us.....so....i suppose if we announce we can't pay our debt....the jobs will come here?

What if Obama's position in wanting only the Executive branch to investigate Major
Hassan's Ft Hood shootings incident was based on either an executive order or policy was
responsible in providing the weak link that could have prevented such an action. . .
Included in the consideration would be Atty Gen E Holder's action or someone else directly
appointed by Obama. . . . but the thought remains the same - that Obama did not want
anyone else, including the US Congress to initiate an investigation that would be open and
presented/answerable to the public.
Sneaky is as sneaky does . . . R Paul's HR 1207 calling for auditing the Fed was gutted by
Mel Watt . . . but the beuaty of R Paul is that the driving force of HR 1207 was
incorporated as an amendment of a different bill about to come to vote by the House. . .
Included will be allowing an audit of every item on the Fed's balance sheet, all credit
facilities and all securities purchase program.

Another health panel, somewhere, came up with another new and improved revised guideline .
. . suggesting a pap smear be provided at the age of 30 and not 21.
The GREAT aspect to these most recent revisions in healthcare guidelines is that just
perhaps the women of America will be ticked off enough in knowing that politics is
entering the medical industry in a HUGE and disturbing way . . . And, that it will be the
women of America who will be most directly involved with the growing continual call for
the US Congress not to take over the US healthcare industry.
