It depends how comfortable you are going solo. I started online with no experience except
for mutual fund investment and a DRIP in one stock.
I know it looks like I'm taking both sides and not really answering your question. But,
it really comes down to your comfort level. If you are really uncomfortable starting out
with little or no help, than by all means go to Edward Jones or somewhere else. When your
comfort level is greater, you can always transfer your account to an online broker. One
caveat, pay attention to account minimum requirements. Places like Edward Jones may have
high minimum requirements. Online brokers, generally have lower minimums.
If you want help finding an online broker that fits your situation, let me know. I can
point out a few that have stockpickr cred! LOL

I would like to start to buy stocks. Is it better to set up an account online or go to a
place like Edward Jones.
