think I hit 6,000 a few times...Donald..For short interest I use Shortsqueeze.com, for

Nymph, Congratulations. Where do you research short interest on a stock? Where do you
find out when earnings will be announced? It sounds like you do your homework.

HEY I CLOSED OUT THE WEEK ON THE LEADERBOARD...It looks like I am #33...yeah. I just got
back from Traders Expo in LA...it is sooooo good. Donald, I buy after the earnings are
released...in the morning after the first gap up I buy on the pullback if the volume is
there and I LIKE the earnings...esp if there is a large short interest and previous
downgrades..I have all my research already done so I am ready to act...then I let it run
until I get stopped out...or it runs out of gas...this works better in the small and mid
cap stocks.

martinbakner, I'd rather be lucky than good. I agree with either 100% long or 100% short
in a single industry. (By the way I don't actually invest that way - I've never had the
guts to short and I try to diversify). I'm fairly good at fundamental, long-term
investing but I'm trying to learn technical analysis and how to read charts. The last
four years I've done very well, but this has been a trying year for me. My best stock was
Fiserv, FISV, but I was LUCKY that I worked there for 27 years. I've really enjoyed this
"Beat the Street" portfolio contest because I can play different roles (a shorting Darth
Vader) for fun. I'm still trying to find my inner shark.

marol: Did you log in first? That enables the 'clicks'... but only during the week... no
good when the week ends.

Trading Nymph: Thank you so much for answering my questions! However, when I click on
the Leaderboard names (that's the right way, I assume?) nothing happens. . . .

Donald Gardner: I had a lot of good luck one week. End of May... I went long on retail,
and got a lot of help from DAKT CWTR DLTR WTSLA and MW. Didn't finish the week strong
enough, though... but it was nice while it lasted.
I had really studied that weekend... and everything pointed to a good week for retail...
then just went with my gut.
Haven't been anywhere near as good since.
I do know this: a mix of longs and shorts is a bad idea. Do one or the other. Gotta
commit to either the bulls or bears... but not worth it to mix the pair.
