peter - i agree with you. i simply point out that the right will have field day with this,
and will attempt to pin it on whoever the democrats end up with and most people will, as
robert points out, disagree with the wording. i accept this as a fair compromise (tough to
push any issue all the way in favor of one side, without backlash).
you bring up something interesting about weed, or pot or whatever ya wanna call it. ya
know they brought back alcohol from prohibition so it could be a source of revenue in the
30's, so if there is a reason that could make it legal, that would be it.
i still have no idea how they dont accept medical marijuana but allow
heroin--err--morphine.

I prefer shacking up, Robert.
And on the drug issue: I see these commercials that promote the view "doing drugs supports
terrorism." Well .. I dont know, maybe it does. But how much money is FARC going to make
if the US controls distribution and taxes product, at the very least making it easier and
safer for addicts to get their fix? That's the way to stop the money flow (if that's
really an issue) to terrorists. Take over their business.

Might sound a bit trivial, Peter, but it is only the word usage of 'marriage' do I vote
'no'. Just about everything else is fair game: shacking up, partnership, dating, going
steady.

and furthermore, if people want to smoke pot, go ahead. I don't want to pay for their
medical bills though, nor pay their unemployment if they don't have the energy to work.
Might as well legalize it and tax it so maybe we can reduce this deficit and stop paying
so much money to pursue and jail them.
[ edit: I spent years in Europe, and it was very interesting that the people in The
Netherlands weren't the ones smoking pot. It was tourists. Now they have the right idea:
create a business, tax it, and see your tourism shoot up ]

I honestly don't care what people do in their bedrooms. I don't agree with that life style
but since it's been around since at least Roman times, nobody's ever going to get rid of
it. Might as well accept it and move onto other issues
