Normally, when I put together portfolios for Stockpickr, I will look at one or several fundamental variables or target a sector theme to arrive at my stock picks. However, another aspect to investment management is taking advantage of speculative opportunities. Sometimes it pays to take chances by allocating a small portion of your portfolio into some high risk reward contrarian plays. Buying these low priced, down and out stocks are like buying call options on the company's survival. I am now seeing opportunities in an entire country: Greece.
