The Heidi Klum Stock Index - 13114 views


If you saw the June 30 issue of Forbes magazine, then you saw that leading supermodel Heidi Klum graced the cover and was the subject of the magazine's featured article. Klum's income for last year is estimated at $15 million for the year, making her the second-richest model, behind Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen but well ahead of Kate Moss.

It is interesting to note that the Klum Index outperformed the Dow Jones Industrial Average for the first six months of this year, down only 4% vs. the Dow’s drop of 14%.

Klum, known for being the host, judge and executive producer of Project Runway and Germany's Next Topmodel, has been hired as the celebrity spokesperson for several companies.

For example, Klum has had the privilege of wearing the Millennium Bra, with $10 million in jewels, and the Fantasy Bra, worth $12.5 million, for Victoria's Secret, a division of Limited Brands (LTD). Klum reportedly renewed her contract with Victoria's Secret for $3.8 million per year. Limited has a P/E of 8 and a PEG of 0.92, and it pays a yield of 3.6%.

Limited stock is also owned by Ramius Capital Group, an investment management company with $2 billion in assets. The company has a goal of low-volatility absolute returns that are also "non-market-directional" in nature. Ramius also owns Quanex Building Products (NX), with a forward P/E ratio of 13; Tyson Foods (TSN), with a P/E of 30; and Crown Holdings (CCK), with a P/E of 8.

Another stock in the Heidi Klum Stock Index is Procter & Gamble (PG), which owns the Braun shaving business. Klum appeared in a Braun commercial for which it’s reported she had her legs were insured for $2 million. And speaking of shaving, Procter just announced that Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees is the newest Gillette Champions ambassador. Procter & Gamble has a P/E of 19 and a PEG of 1.57, and it pays a yield of 2.6%.

Procter is also owned by Blackrock Equity Dividend, is a five-star-rated fund managed by Robert Shearer. The fund has had an average annual return of 13.93% over the last five years. The fund also owns Exxon Mobil (XOM), with a P/E of 11; Bank of America (BAC), with a P/E of 9; and General Electric (GE), with a P/E of 12.

The best-performing stock in the Klum Index is Volkswagen (VLKAY.PK). Klum did a commercial for the company's crossover SUV, the Tiguan. The stock has a P/E of17 and pays a yield of 1%.
