Carlos Slim Helu has been considered the second-richest man in the world, after Warren Buffett and ahead of Bill Gates. And now that Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) has had a significant drop in price, Slim could bump up to be the richest.

Slim is known for taking major positions in publicly traded companies. For example, he recently announced a position in New York Times (NYT) of 9.1 million Class A shares.

Stockpickr has reviewed the shareholdings of this billionaire and compiled a list of the top stocks of Carlos Slim Helu.

One of Slim's stocks is America Movil (AMX), the Latin American provider of wireless and fixed line communications services. "Fast Money"'s Tim Seymour recently said that the company is a good way to play the emerging market . The stock has a reasonable P/E ratio of 11 and a very favorable PEG ratio of 0.45. It also pays a yield of 1.8%.

America Movil is also owned by Maverick Capital, a Dallas- and New York-based $10 billion hedge fund that was founded in 1993 with $38 million by Lee S. Ainslie III. Maverick also owns Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan (POT), with a PEG ratio of 1.43; Monsanto (MON), with a 0.55 PEG ratio; and Cardinal Health (CAH), with a 0.63 ratio. Cardinal Health recently reported that revenue for its first quarter rose 11%.

Another Slim favorite is cigarette maker Altria Group (MO), which was recently discussed a video on TheStreet.com TV called "Will Cigarette Makers Go Up in Smoke?" after it eliminated jobs due to the economy slowdown. The stock has a P/E of 5 and a PEG ratio of 0.9. It pays a yield of 8.3%.

Altria is owned by the JPMorgan Intrepid Val-Sel Fund, a long-term capital appreciation fund that has a rating of five stars and is managed by Silvio Tarca. The fund also owns ACE Limited (ACE), with a PEG ratio of 0.35; Reynolds American (RAI), with a 1.36 ratio; and Chubb (CB), with a ratio of 0.77 and a buy rating from TheStreet.com Ratings.
