GRT Capital

Description:

Krochuk and Gregory Fraser, his partner, left Fidelity Investments to launch GRT Capital Partners five and a half years ago. GRT manages $900 million, with $650 million of it invested in its marquee long-short fund. The remaining assets are dispersed over four other investment strategies, including a new Shariah account compliant with Islamic law that started up last month.

Portfolio managers Kim Peters, who heads the Shariah account, and John DeTore, who manages the European market neutral account, chimed in with their top picks in this Barron's 4-30-07 interview.
