ira rollover portfolio--pretty eclectic

-
ATNI
Atlantic Tele-net - $52.71
- 0.00%
- $N/A
Atlantic TeleNetwork--it's Guyana Telephone Co. (with attendant nationalization risk), and cellular service in Bermuda, where folks are as addicted to cellphones as they are anywhere. Purchased for business viz. valuations, dividend flow.

-
T
At&t Inc. - $25.93
- -0.04%
- $25.86
Bermuda Electric Power Co. Actually, the NASDAQ symbol doesn't work, it's BELCO.BH, the holding company for the Bermuda Electric Light Co. and Bermuda Gas & Utility. Simple Econ 101 proposition: An electric utility, 700 miles from anything, on an island whose demand for electricity is seemingly price inelastic. Yields me in excess of 7% at cost, purchase and current valuation both a fraction of replacement value, a no-brainer if you can put liquidity concerns out of your mind.

BRKB
Berkshire Hath Hl - $3462.00

Berkshire Hathaway B. Next?

-
BSC
Elements Bg Sm Cp - $10.04
- 0.00%
- $N/A
Speculation on my part, for which I have a 30 point hook. I have no problem holding it, for the long ride back.

-
CYD
China Yuchai Intl - $11.75
- -0.84%
- $11.66
China Yuchai Intl Ltd. China's largest producer of diesel engines. Another hook, just needs more patience.

-
EGLE
Eagle Bulk Shippi - $4.69
- -2.49%
- $4.74
Used to own more of this, sold majority of stake viz. valuation concerns. Bulk carrier, large dividends, still have valuation concerns...holding onto a stub of what I once owned. Primary reason for original purchase is that Seth Glickenhaus owned a slug of it. Nuff said!

-
FRO
Frontline Ltd - $23.45
- -2.90%
- $23.71
Foremost owner/operator of VLCCs on earth, and John Fredriksen's masterpiece. When I got in, p/e south of 5x, dividends positively lumpy and gigantic, SFL spinoff positively huge. Fredriksen treats his shareholders as a loving father would dote on his children.

-
MRK
Merck Co Inc - $32.59
- -0.37%
- $32.61
Keytech Ltd., holding company for the Bermuda Telephone Company. Again, another monopoly with a 700 mile moat, good dividend, fine valuation when I purchased it, and an excuse to make telephone calls in Bermuda.
