A view at diversification with a base of solid giants and a dash of risky elements.

ATI
Allegheny Tech Ne - $33.84
- +3.87%
- $33.10
I love titanium. What else can I say? ATI is the leader in this field. A stock split might make this company look more affordable and might boost the perceived value, but even at current prices I feel that this company is worth every penny.

AKN
Safety First Us E - $8.14
- 0.00%
- $N/A
Promising, promising. They just signed a ten-year lease on office space in Illinois, and they're pushing production on generics. They've done well over the past year and I see this as a good time to buy, especially at current prices. This is another long-term decision.

AW
N/a - $10.36
- 0.00
- $10.36
This is the second-largest waste company in America. People will continue to produce waste, and landfills are limited. AW has one corner on the market in this aspect. If they build on recycling programs like their big brother, Waste Management, I see a great future for this company. I'd like to see this stock go to $24 at the very least.

-
HOG
Harley Davidson - $27.07
- +5.21%
- $26.01
This is a great stock to buy on the off-season dip in winter. The stock has done incredibly well over the past decade and I don't see a decline for the next five to ten years. Harleys are baby-boomer material that has spilled over onto the next generation. Additionally, Americans aren't the only folks enamored with this motorcycle. This is an international product that keeps on vrooming. Dividend is an added plus. They're overdue for a split, IMO.

C
Citigroup Inc - $4.19
- +3.20%
- $4.14
Why not? Although this company needs a shake-up to boost stock price, they're solid. Plus, I've seen more than one person enjoy their dividends from this company. Another long-term investment.

DYMTF.OB
Dynamotive Energy - $0.192
- +0.52%
- $0.191
I first discovered this company through a press release where the president of the company, Andrew Kingston, stated that they could take just about any waste product and convert it to BioOil. After some investigation, I realized that this is one 'green' company that could become hugely successful, especially with rising oil costs. Rather than build huge plants, they build small converter stations on company grounds, where the company can utilize the converter to cut energy costs. The president, Kingston, is dynamic, energetic, and ambitious, and he is creating a huge following among corporations like Mazda and in countries like China. Promising, cheap (at the moment), and Kingston is anxious for his stock to move from over-the-counter to a regular exchange. See http://www.dynamotive.com/.
