im 23 with a sizeable amount to invest. because of my age im taking on alot of risk with speculation, with an eye towards growth. i am also a sucker for value so its easy to see that i havnt worked out a very disciplined strategy, yet. generally, im not looking to time the market, so im looking for great stories to make at least a one year investment in. my primary investing goal is to own a home in -5 years but i wont sacrifice potential gains if that target starts getting close.

80 years of growth, so i doubled my shares when it took a 30% dip in january 06 (07/12/07) added another 1/3 at 36 in july. ive been noticing alot more presence at new construction sites around baton rouge. (07/23/07) grandfather mused today whether a buyout was on the horizon. makes sense. i think most likely candidate would be COF. on a side note, looks like insiders are slowly taking advantage of their espp... (08.15.07) as much as i hated doing it, i sold off 60% at 35.70 to pay off my margin balance and to balance out the portfolio. (10.04.07) anyone else hear cramer mention HBHC as a potential acquisition for canadian or spanish firms? (10.14.07)took some profits due to personal circumstances. i still think this is a buy at 42. ive been following the price down from 2.23. really excited about growth potential once housing rebounds. new branches in seattle and chicago. possible hospital application adds even more speculative upside to this stock...(8/8/07) i knew there would be some bumps due to housing but i could have done without countrywide's ceo's little announcement about no hope for housing until 2009. oh well, patience is a virtue...(10.14.07) shares didnt move on ceo resignation so i take that as a sign from the investors that this is a good thing. i loaded up on a couple thousand more shares at 1.0 just because. got in at 7.65 to replace xom with a speculative oil holding. currently dropping their environmental cleanup business and investing capital in a stronger presence in the rocky mountains. newpark has a couple of patents on horizontal drilling methods and drill lubricants. (7/23/07) doubled my position at 7.51. (14%)

(08.15.07) added 80% to previous position at 24.7 with great year end outlook. (10.14.07) cashed out a few shares due to personal circumstances but i still think this is an unconditional buy. (10.19.07) bought 10 december 35 calls for $1.6 on the pullback. (22%)

A. any forward growth guidance you get from
a company has to be taken with a grain
of salt. dubai was not news 2 days ago,
yesterday it clipped the s n p for 20
points. these are turbulent times and
all forward statements are a guess. 5
year ones are a joke. we've had a really
nice upternd for the last 8 months, that
may be coming to and end or at the very
least its probably gonna get choppy.
you're gonna have to be the judge of the
reliability of any future estimates and
any one stock can have multiple guesses
at theirs.
