The Yale University endowment, which totals over $22 billion, has been managed by David Swensen since 1985. Realizing an annual return of more than 17.2 percent on his investments over the last ten years. Swensen has added more than $16 billion to Yale's coffers, and his consistent track record has attracted the notice of Wall Street portfolio managers.

Prior to becoming the manager at Yale, Swensen was a 6 year veteran of Wall Street at Lehman Brothers and at Solomon Brothers, focusing on complicated swap transactions and development of new technologies related to finance. When he joined the Yale Endowment as Portfolio Manager at the age of 31, he was an unconventional choice, as he was relatively young for someone entrusted with so much money and had no experience as a portfolio manager. Before his tenure, the Endowment had most of its funds invested in stocks, bonds and cash. Swensen decided that this was not diversified enough, and that they were missing out on reliable returns in other asset classes. As a result he diversified the fund’s investments into foreign stocks, real assets, private equity and more absolute return type strategies.

This portfolio only includes public equities and not necessarily all holdings of Yale University's endowment.

As of 9/30/2009 funds were valued at $5.2 million.

During the quarter some of the following notable actions were taken:

Positions closed out (4 positions): DEI, TIVO, ARST, AKR, INFN

I like your portfolio. Looks like a good list. Any thoughts on how long you plan to hold WYE?
