I'm on a three plan. I lost money in 2006 because of poor trading, trying to see if I can keep up with the averages in 2007 and beat them in 2008. If not I'll throw in the towel and close put future savings in indexes and mutual funds.

Goldman Sachs Grp - $176.57
- +2.79%
- $173.68
Strong earnings growth, low multiple compared to peers, great play on private equity. They work to make deals and can play there bets with the hottest hands.

Eddie Lampert is touted as being potentially the next Warren Buffett. Current assets are a great cash cow. Be great if Eddie sucked out profits from stores over holidays and sold lower performing stores after next quarterly reporting to generate cash to either buy back shares or invest in another company.

Altria Group Inc - $18.87
- +1.78%
- $18.83
High dividend yield, and most pundits think the breakup of the company will be worth more than the single company. Potentially lower legal risk based off recent court decision. I'm overweighted for a Jan 31st/early Feb trade after shareholder meeting.

NYX
Nyse Euronext - $27.80
- +3.46%
- $27.25
As NYX merges EuroNext this trend should offer a competitive advantage for companies in listing their offerings as we get closer to a single world market helping generate more transactions for the new entity, cost-cutting potential, and potential entry into derivatives market.

Outsourcing high-margin health care operations to be done more efficiently and potentially for a lower-price should be a trend that continues as US health care providers continue to cut cost and look for better operating practices

PAY
Verifone Hldgs In - $14.68
- +2.73%
- $14.42
Expansion of credit/debit card holders in developing world. Also, saw a large Canadian restaurant operator experimenting with offering table-side credit card payment which could be a boon for PAY if this trend successfully reduces labor requirements and improves customer experience. Same product could be great in Casinos as well want to see how trends pan out in next few quarterly conference calls. Got a 1/4 position right now to keep skin in the game.
