High Income Portfolio. Targets current dividend income of 8% or greater. I have included these stocks in an IRA / 401K account due to the tax advantages (taxes are deferred on interest income / dividends). I also have included fixed income mututal funds (not listed). Stocks in which I anticipate future price appreciation are held in a separate taxable brokerage account.

Diverse investment REIT portfolio and high dividend. Stock trades at discount to book value, "We seek to limit consumer credit risk by buying Agency and AAA-rated non-Agency loans", so little risk of non-prime losses.

Apollo Management. Provides access to middle-market high yield private secured and subordinated debt & equity securities. "Invests primarily in middle-market companies in the form of mezzanine and senior secured loans, as well as by making direct equity investments in such companies. Our targeted investment typically ranges between $20 million and $150 million"

Things have gotten pretty ugly in sub-prime mortgage land, and Alt-A mortgage land and the surrounding mortgage neighbors and anyone with mortgage in their name. TMA's prime mortgage portfolio will fail when prime lenders default (that's you Mr/Ms Middle America!). I have traded out of the stock and into the preferred shares (stable dividend and higher in capital structure....no loss of yield...10% cvt pref. also adds equity upside)
