I'm in the military so these picks were based on low cost and good results. I also wanted to take advantage of some trends to diversify my portfolio. Yes I will have a retirement annuity from the military, but I have additional income that I want to use to help me live a VERY comfortable life when my wife and I retire and throughout our lives together.

I wanted to take advantage of the VALUE thought process and low cost of Vanguard. Doing well, but I'd love more return.

Wanted a mix of bonds, but didn't want to lock into any one bond or MUNI. Thought this would give me a great balance.

Saw the concept of Retirement indexed funds. Since I will retire aroung the year 2030 I thought this was a great idea and a totally "fund and forget" fund. This has been my singularly best fund thus far.

I put this fund into my Roth IRA (combined with some funds from USPA/IRA now Tempelton) to offset any tax burden I may have (I don't own a home). I'm trying to play the future, but the S&P 500 isn't doing so well right now and I'm not sure when TECH will come back into fashion.

A. i can only view gs's down grade as being
crystal ballish......they can see all
the way to 2012 ?, in products that are
all geared to telecom. to go out that
far, someone has to "know", that some
thing not so good, is in rimms' future,
like the telecom sector is so played out
, that rimm doesnt have any place left
to go till 2012.how can they be so
specific in the call.broader market
action= pin action, because the tide has
risen today, is all. rimm, do they have
any new products in the pipeline,
etc.etc. prolly not. maybe their
infringement suit could hurt so bad,
they could go under.no specifics from gs
as to why, and so far out?
