Did you know that: 1) Last year, 1 billion cell phones were sold. Thats a huge market! If Apple can sell 1 million of these within 6 months, that is an additional $500 million to their 2007 revenues. If they sell 5 million, thats $2.5 billion more in revenues. 2) 1.3 million movies were sold in 4 months via iTunes. This will only increase with Apple TV. 3) Over 50 million videos have been downloaded using iTunes.

  • CVS
    Cvs Caremark Cp

  • $29.99

Much of the recent news around CVS Caremark Corp. (CVS) has involved its recent $26.5 billion acquisition of Caremark, which completed last week. But to me, there are a couple of other things that have looked quite interesting. I didn't have a single CVS store in my area until about 8 months ago, when the local Savon Drugs stores started undergoing some serious facelift. Within a matter of weeks, these run down stores had been renovated with a clean new look, bright lights and friendlier staff. This happened to all of the 3 Savon's within a 5 mile radius. Then the marketing campaign kicked in, encouraging shoppers to sign up for the CVS reward card. Shoppers got 10% off their bill at checkout if they signed up for the ExtraCare Account, and 2% cash back on future purchases both in-store and online. I even received a $30 free gift card offer if I submitted a new prescription or transferred an existing one to CVS. One has to admit that even before the Caremark deal, CVS was much loved by the likes of Golman Sachs and UBS. And who can blame them? CVS is the largest chain of drugstores in the US and trades at a discount to its competitors. Indeed, CVS trades for a mere 15 times 2008 earnings, while competitor Walgreens (WAG) trades at a multiple of 20. I won't even mention Rite Aid (RAD), which trades at a P/E of 100 (35 times the most aggressive of estimates). For CVS, the stock has not kept up with the market for the last year - mostly due to the large acquisition of Caremark, but the earnings should improve once the true potential of the acquisition is realized through higher sales and lower costs.

    Nintendo Co Ltd A
  • $33.16

  • $32.91

The obvious success of the Wii at a time when the PS3 was supposed to the be the big cheese, and XBox 360 had the market cornered with over 150 titles, this underdog has surprised video gamers and investors alike with sales double that of the Playstation 3. In its earnings just released, NTDOY re-affirmed my bullish stance by announcing a 43% increase in profits, thanks to strong Wii sales and even stronger sales of DS. For 2006, sales of Nintendo DS were 5.3 million units. Add Japan's growing economy to the mix - After a good 2005, Japan's stock market underperformed that of other countries and analysts are showing a renewed focus on Japan since the start of the new year. This bodes well for companies like Nintendo.

Oil services stocks look like they are done going down. In fact, the last few days has seen stocks like Schlumberger (SLB), Baker Hughes (BHI), Transocean (RIG) and Gulf Island Fabrication (GIFI) form a nice looking bottom on steady upside volume. This is evident from the MACD cross-over in each of these.

Hilton (HLT) is making a second consecutive move up on high volume. I think its going higher. They have been acquiring properties (Biltmore comes to mind), marrying their European long list sibling and re-branding some of their chains (Hilton Garden is now Hilton Suites). Too many good things are happening at Hilton to keep this stock from going to $40.

  • 0.00%
  • $N/A

This stock has moved up almost 80% in the last few months, but that is due to the strong video game sales projected by analysts. With Guitar Hero and Call of Duty 3, it has a great portfolio of titles to look forward to and is a winner.

This is not a stock most people know of, but it is up almost 100% since October. Fuel Tech makes equipment that helps power plants reduce air pollution and burn fuel more efficiently. With democrats winning the elections last month, the stock has gained added momentum and looks like it will end the year near an all time high.

The retailer knows how to treat their associates who make more working at Costco than they would at other retailers. They also boast a shopper friendly ambience and their warranty programs on electronics, along with food offerings for the working mom and high margins on Kirkwood - their own store brand - make for a great long-term recipe for investors.

A. The tax issue is only one reason. If
the shareholders approve, ESV will move
its corporate HQS to UK. It does not
change their operations. Their key
customers are in Europe and the move
will purportedly give them better access
to European institutional investors.
The only thing I see is that the street
may see additional expenses in the move
that might cause some short term
weakness or maybe the street doesn't buy
