The following 20 stocks were the best performing stocks in the portfolios of the statewide winners in SMG's 10 largest state programs. The stocks are listed in descending order by percentage gain.

These stocks were included in diversified student portfolios that were researched and selected based on the long-term saving and investing goals learned through the Stock Market Game curriculum in the classroom.

The game started on January 16, 2007 and ended on May 4, 2007. The 10 largest state programs based on total number of teams are: CA, FL, GA, IL, MA, NJ, NY, PA, VA, TX

Shares of Dendreon (DNDN) are trading down some 7% pre-market after the company announced that it was going to offer $75 million in convertible senior subordinated notes that are due in 2014. The offering is being made under Rule 144A to qualified institutional buyers, so the securities will not be required to be registered until a reseale period. In other words, DNDN is burning cash. Not a good sign. Jim Cramer - May 14, 2007 - There's no substantive reason DNDN will bounce back. It needs more financing. John Markman - Phase 1 and Phase 2 trials didn't use as manhy patients as most drug analysts would like to see. DNDN at 3 at end of March. Panel made recommendation, so stock went to 20 in 3 days. But how much influence did FDA panel have on final decision? Better trial on Provenge, but result won't be available in 2008. FDA wants to wait. He recommends: play the volatility, options straddle 100% up 80% down. Close out losing side immediately.

AS a result, its stock price nearly doubled. The Hauppauge-based firm, for the quarter ended Dec. 31, posted net income of $1.1 million, up from $147,000 in the same period last year. On a per-share basis, profit was 24 cents per share, compared to 3 cents per share in the prior-year period. Shares of Vicon (AMEX: VII) ballooned by $2.85, more than 71 percent, to trade at $6.63 per share, a new 52-week high by nearly $3.
